Bishop McGann-Mercy High School serves students in 7th through 12th grades. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy 60 years ago, we excel in academics and lead our students to perform the works of mercy.
Located in the Town of Riverhead, McGann-Mercy is the only Catholic High School on the East End of Long Island. At McGann-Mercy administrators, faculty and staff set high expectations for our students. Our small class sizes and our low student to teacher ratio enable our students to interact and connect with their teachers.
McGann-Mercy is big enough to offer a rigorous and diverse curriculum, a comprehensive athletic program, and extensive extra-curricular activities -- yet we are small enough to focus on the individual student and help our every one of our young men and women reach their potential.
McGann-Mercy’s academic program is challenging, with AP and honors classes as well as curriculums in engineering and environmental sciences. Our STEM program is highlighted by advanced classes in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) focusing on computer and software engineering in the Apple Computer Lab and a freshwater marsh wetland serving as an outdoor classroom for students.
Focusing on academic excellence, students are afforded the personal attention necessary to meet their individual needs and abilities. The 74 students in the Class of 2017 were rewarded for their efforts, earning over $12.9 million in college scholarships, for an average of more than $174,000 per student. That number represents their hard work in the classroom, on the playing field, in their respective clubs, and their commitment to service. Every student has the opportunity to stand out as a leader within the school community. It is because of our well-rounded philosophy of education that our students are routinely coveted by some of the best universities in the country, including Dartmouth, Cornell, Villanova, Georgetown, Boston College and many more.
In an environment that has been distinguished by the United States Department of Education as a National School of Excellence, Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School is committed to preparing leaders for tomorrow.
