Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) is a Catholic, college-preparatory school for young women. Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph (CSJ), our educational mission is to empower young women to become the leaders of tomorrow. One of six CSJ schools, Sacred Heart fosters respect for and oneness with creation, and is committed to nurturing inclusive love, unity, reconciliation, justice, and peace. Rooted in the gospel of Jesus, we strive to develop passionate and confident students who use their academic and leadership talents to address the needs of our time. Rigorous academics, varied extra-curricular programs, athletics, and faith formation opportunities develop students with college and life readiness skills who are prepared to who “lead with heart.”
Enrollment is approximately 800 students from 45 school districts across Long Island and Queens. SHA offers subsidized transportation opportunities to the Rockaways and has recently implemented a bus shuttle to local train stations. Our award-winning campus (ACEC Silver Award) includes a new track and field that is used for athletics and student classes.
Highly qualified and experienced faculty members offer personal care and attention to students in small class settings. The student-to-teacher ratio is 15 to 1. A challenging curriculum includes two pathways: STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and STELLAR (Social Science, Theology, English Language/Lit, World Language, Law & Business, the Arts, and Research in the Humanities). 91% of the Class of 2017 received academic, athletic, or artistic scholarships, totaling $54 million. They were accepted into prestigious colleges and universities nationwide.
